Classic and Timeless Style
The Kandy lineup by Alexander Shorokhoff is dedicated to the most famous Russian avant-gardist, Wassily Kandinsky.
Kandinsky possessed an extraordinary artistic intelligence and a pronounced feeling for colors and form. He assigned colors a deeper meaning and associations, for example, by describing the colour blue as “soft” and “aromatic”; or in contrast, the colour yellow as “fierce” and “pungent”.
Further, he assigned specific shapes to specific colours. For instance, he imagined the colour red to be a square.
As part of the Kandy lineup, Alexander Shorokhoff created the model - Kandy Classic. Watches that come with a square case are not usually described as a "classic and timeless beauty" - precisely the reason why the Kandy Classic has come about.
After all, the whole idea behind the AvantGarde collection is to create timepieces that are controversial and provocative. Consequently, Alexander Shorokhov has once more proven that he is able to connect the contrasts of classical and modern art into one harmonious ensemble. He remains true to his principles concerning the design of all watches of the AvantGarde collection.
As is signature of the collection, the dial of the Kandy Classic is decorated with large figures 20, 40 and 60.
The surface of the watch dial is first treated circularly before being covered by enamel. The result is a very brightly shining “summer feeling”.
The case is extraordinary, too. It is first made without any lugs – they are later welded to the back. This makes it possible to include grooves on the case for the insertion of decorative wires.
The back of the case comes in the trademark Kandy design where three of the four small round glass elements, offering a peek into the decorated movement, are in three different avant garde colours – red, yellow and blue. Truly, Art on the Wrist.
About Alexander Shorokhoff
Alexander Shorokhoff was founded in 2003 in Alzenau, Germany by Alexander Shorokhov. The brand was borne out of Shorokhov’s desire to create watches with high standards of workmanship, quality and design.
Shorokhov’s designs are drawn from his Russian roots and the many countries and cultures he visits. Engravings and decorations painstakingly done by hand are signature traits of Alexander Shorokhoff, with a single master watchmaker being responsible for one watch from start to finish.
Truly, a piece of Art on the Wrist.
