The Sturmanskie Open Space NH35/1811841 is created to mark the momentous occasion of man's first adventure into space. Within it, we can find the spirit of two cosmonauts' historic space walk back in 1965.

The Sturmanskie Open Space is created to mark the momentous occasion of man's first adventure into space on March 18th, 1965. That day, humankind's first space walk in history was performed by Alexei Archipowitsch Leonow, one of two cosmonauts of the Woschod 2 spaceship. During that event, Leonow was wearing a Sturmanskie watch. Now, the Open Space line is created and dedicated to that historic moment and to the cosmonauts of the Woschod 2.

About Sturmanskie

The Russians were the first to explore space on 12 April 1961 when cosmonaut, Yuri Gagarin, orbited the Earth in his Vostok-1 for one hour and forty-eight minutes. On his wrist, he wore a Sturmanskie watch, the first special timepiece in the world designed and manufactured to go in to space.

Withstanding the severe conditions of zero gravity, strong accelerations, unpredictable vibrations, and varying temperatures, Sturmanskie was the first brand to make astronomical feats in the watch world.

Its innovation was owed to the nautical and aviation chronometers originally developed for the Military Air Forces and Navy by the First Moscow Watch Factory.

The brand Sturmanskie was first launched in 1949. Back then, it was exclusively available for the Armed Forces and Navy of the USSR. It was only in 1983 that Sturmanskie watches were made available to the general public.

Sturmanskie designs continue to be inspired by and pay homage to new frontiers, adventure and exploration.
