A Special Collab Recycled from Original RWB Porsches
The 901 RWB Stella contains a piece of metal from Akira Nakai-San’s personal RWB Porsche 911: Stella Artois – a car 12 years in the making and the genesis of all RWB projects. Stella Artois was Nakai-san’s first full conversion: A classic black 1985 Porsche 930 turned into a roaring monster. The giant rear wing and the weight-reducing carbon fiber custom wide bodywork are offset by its name written in loud golden letters on the side – a homage to the Belgian beer and Nakai-san’s brew of choice.
Nakai-san is considered an artist and underground phenomenon in the car and drifting community, having specialized in the installation of custom wide-body kits and extreme fenders on classic Porsche 911’s. Doing most of his work by hand, Nakai-san’s RWB conversions are unmistakable and controversial.
His violent, chaotic approach is the antithesis to Porsche’s discreet, careful upgrades of their iconic cars. His conversion projects are complete transformative experiences and the birth of something new and extreme – turning the sophisticated Dr. Jekyll into the beastly Mr. Hyde.
Nakai-san might be transforming the classic Porsche 911 into something extreme for a living – but his love of these vehicles is the reason the hoods removed from his own cars are still to be found in his garage in Kashiwa, Japan.
Raw material from these legendary vehicles is punched into watch dials, coated with a clear lacquer and built directly into the 901 RWB design, ending its long and extreme journey of alteration. The entire idea behind Rauh-Welt Begriff (RWB) and everything that Nakai-san has sacrificed for his automotive art is distilled into a limited run of only 305 watches.
REC Watches has incorporated the extreme wide body kit and the RAUH-WELT sticker decal into the design of the 901 STELLA & 901 ROTANA timepieces – just to mention one of the many design elements REC Watches pay homage to.
No formula or predefined approach defines the process. Constantly adding and constantly cutting away, REC Watches is working relentlessly to distill the essence until only the best parts remain encapsulated in pure passion – completing the creative circle.
