BEHRENS "APOLAR" AUTOMATIC BROWNISH GREY

Behrens takes inspiration from the relationship between Earth and Moon for the Apolar. Powered by a Swiss Made ETA2824-2 automatic movement with special polished decorations, the Apolar has an additional mechanical module - designed, developed and constructed in-house - installed for a unique time display as well as a Moon track motion relative to the rotating Earth.

The globe on the dial rotates once every 24 hours (day/night indicator) while the ring track drives the micro moon to orbit the globe once every 28 days, a system which provides a function of demonstration of the celestial motion of our home planet and the moon (27.32 days).

Unlike the traditional way of time telling through the use of hour and minute hands, Behrens adopted 2 discs and decentralized system locating at the bottom of the dial (left and right) to represent the time in hours and minutes respectively. A small seconds hand can be found in the centre. 

The “Apolar” with its unique design (an official GPHG 2020 nominee) offers a new aspect of telling time and may set a milestone in the watch designing concept.
