The International Space Station, abbreviated to ISS, is the largest and longest-lived space station known to mankind. Originally planned as a military station by the USA, it has been operated and further developed since the start of construction in 1998 in international cooperation with 16 countries and 5 space agencies. It is the largest satellite in Earth orbit and the largest man-made object in space. The ISS orbits the earth once in about 93 minutes at an altitude of about 400 km. Since November 2, 2000, the ISS has been permanently inhabited by astronauts.

The new “Orbita” model is dedicated precisely to this ISS space station, with the entire design direction meticulously adapted to the space theme.

Looking at the dial, the second time zone at 3 o'clock, which represents the ISS space station and the earth, immediately catches the eye. The second hand at the 6 o'clock position is symbolically designed as a small space station. The red marking makes it easier to read the seconds. The hour markers on the outer area of the dial are placed in the form of small stars, which once again takes up the space theme. There is also a day and night display in the 9 o'clock area. All blue-coated hands are also provided with blue luminescent paint to ensure good readability of the time even in the dark.

When it came to the leather strap, too, ideas were not skimped on. A gray suede strap with side stitching and an embedded metal logo fully underlines the theme.

The round 43 mm stainless steel case is covered with a sapphire crystal and carries the skeletonized and engraved hand-wound caliber 9931-PI with a power reserve of 36 hours, which is visible through a glass back. With a limited edition of only 400 pieces and a very good price/performance ratio, the new model exceeds all expectations.

ABOUT POLJOT INTERNATIONAL

The roots of the watch brand “Poljot-International” date back to the 1930s, when the “First State Watch Factory” was founded in Moscow. In 1961, after the flight of the first citizen of the earth, Yuri Gagarin, into space, the watches produced by the factory were given the designation “Poljot” (the flight).

All watches of the brand “Poljot-International” are manufactured in Germany today. Nevertheless, the charm and delicacy in the design, the skilful hands of the master watchmakers, the warmth of the Russian soul and, of course, the love for Russia can be seen and felt.
