A Star from Shanghai’s Watchmaking Past

The Shanghai Watch Power of Faith Red Star looks back to the historic A581, bringing the character of one of Shanghai Watch’s defining early designs into a contemporary 39mm mechanical watch.

Its light-coloured sunray dial retains a distinctly vintage character, combining clean hour markers with a practical date display. The defining detail, however, is the red-star seconds hand — a small but immediately recognisable accent that brings colour and personality to the otherwise restrained dial.

The design is deliberately simple, allowing details associated with Shanghai Watch’s heritage to take centre stage. As light moves across the dial, the sunray finish creates subtle shifts in tone, while the curved sapphire crystal adds a softly rounded profile reminiscent of vintage watch crystals.

The 39mm case is crafted from 316L stainless steel and measures 10.95mm thick, giving the watch balanced proportions suited to everyday wear. A solid stainless-steel caseback completes the classically styled construction.

Inside is Shanghai Watch’s SH2130 automatic mechanical movement. The 28-jewel calibre operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and provides up to 42 hours of power reserve.

A black leather strap with a quick-release system completes the watch, reinforcing its understated, traditional character.

By revisiting the A581 and adding the distinctive red-star seconds hand, the Power of Faith Red Star connects Shanghai Watch’s mechanical heritage with a clean and wearable contemporary interpretation.
