The Shanghai Watch THE BUND Dome draws its inspiration from one of architecture’s most enduring forms — the dome.

Its symmetrical, upward-reaching structure is reinterpreted through the watch’s most distinctive feature: a centrally positioned balance wheel rising prominently from the dial. Powered by Shanghai Watch’s F28 “Sky Wheel” movement, the exposed balance brings the mechanical heartbeat of the watch into full view, transforming a functional component into the visual centrepiece of the design.

Surrounding it is a light-coloured, multi-layered three-dimensional dial. Its intricate pattern takes inspiration from the shallow-relief decorative details found in classical architecture, creating layers of depth that reinforce the collection’s architectural character.

The substantial 43mm case is crafted from 316L stainless steel and topped with a domed sapphire crystal, enhancing the dimensional quality of the dial. Turn the watch over and a transparent stainless-steel caseback offers another view into its mechanical construction.

Inside is Shanghai Watch’s F28 automatic mechanical movement. The 34-jewel calibre operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz) and provides up to 45 hours of power reserve.

A black leather strap completes the design, allowing the sculptural dial and unusual central balance architecture to remain the focus.

With its balance wheel placed where one would normally expect to find the centre of a conventional dial, the THE BUND Dome turns mechanical engineering into architecture for the wrist.
