12 April 1961 is the new start in the age of humanity. Inspired by the courage of the first Soviet space traveller Yuri Gagarin, we have developed Gagarin The First Collection, making every piece to be perfect in every aspect. A stylish timepiece with a minimalist and original design. The small 33 mm ivory watch dial with large numbers is easy to read. In fact, it is the exact same size of the first watch worn by Gagarin himself. Checking the time is possible even in the dark as the numbers and hands are luminous. The leather strap looks attractive due to the bright orange colour and attachment to the case lugs with large stitches. The unique number of the watch is engraved on the back of the stainless steel case. The watch is powered by a Russian-made hand-winding Poljot 2609 movement (power reserve 40 hours).

ABOUT STURMANSKIE

The Russians were the first to explore space on 12 April 1961 when cosmonaut, Yuri Gagarin, orbited the Earth in his Vostok-1 for one hour and forty-eight minutes. On his wrist, he wore a Sturmanskie watch, the first special timepiece in the world designed and manufactured to go in to space.
Withstanding the severe conditions of zero gravity, strong accelerations, unpredictable vibrations, and varying temperatures, Sturmanskie was the first brand to make astronomical feats in the watch world.
Its innovation was owed to the nautical and aviation chronometers originally developed for the Military Air Forces and Navy by the First Moscow Watch Factory.
The brand Sturmanskie was first launched in 1949. Back then, it was exclusively available for the Armed Forces and Navy of the USSR. It was only in 1983 that Sturmanskie watches were made available to the general public.
Sturmanskie designs continue to be inspired by and pay homage to new frontiers, adventure and exploration.
